My name is Donald Crouse III, and I’m from Pennsylvania. I grew up surrounded by farms (not actually living on a farm myself) and ever since I could speak, I’ve been interested in electricity. My parents tell me that as a baby I loved being held up to a lightswitch, constantly flicking it on and off and saying “ligghhht”. While I don’t verbalize this fascination now, I am still very much interested in the idea of electricity, even if it is just a simple switch and lightbulb. I was probably one of the few kids who would rather make a trip to Radioshack than Toy’s R Us.

As a kid, I tore apart countless RC cars (even ones that still worked…), and any other electronics I could get my hands on. I still have piles of circuitry from my childhood, except now I actually understand what the components are on the green boards. Throughout my childhood, I not only delved my mind into electronics, but I became pretty mechanically minded as well, mostly due to my father. Because of the combination of these two mindsets, I love fixing (or at least trying to) just about everything.

During grade school, band became a big part of my life. I loved playing sax, my friends, my directors, and feeling of sanctuary in the band room. In band, I’ve made multiple trips around the world, such as California, Virginia, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and France. While I’m not as involved with band in my college, I will never forget my memories in school.

I currently am a recent graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelors in electrical engineering, concentrating on electronics and circuits. In school, I was very involved with the university’s robotics club, and I had a job as a student computer technician for the university.
